Whilst most of our expedition cruises require an international flight we have our own magical expedition cruises here in Australia.  A Kimberley coast cruise from Broome to Darwin (or vice versa) would rate in my top 5 expedition cruises.

Why True North

There are a range of ships offering Kimberley Cruises, with True North (and True North II) possibly being the pick of the ships – why.

There are simple reasons like:

• the size of the ship with just 18 cabins and a maximum of 36 guests (True North II just 22 guests)
• The on-board helicopter (flights are an additional cost – and I can only recommend you add at least one, ideally more).
• A heritage in the Kimberley dating back to 1987 – Australian owned and operated.
• Excellent locally inspired cuisine
• And for me the standout being the ship’s crew; their willingness to make each client’s wishes reality.  There are many different activities to choose from each day: some days it’s hard to know which one to choose.  And after each evening’s briefing the crew set about trying to facilitate everyone’s wishes.

Just one example I’d taken a hike with some of the other guests and I’d also wanted to try out fishing. I got back to the True North and after a cool drink the crew had a skiff (flat bottomed boat) ready with fishing rods waiting to make that opportunity a reality.  I think it’s that level of care and a mentality to do whatever they can each and every day that made the trip such a wonderful experience for me and the rest of my travelling companions.
