I’ve long had a fascination with helicopters and on a recent voyage to the Kimberley coast on-board the luxury expedition ship True North I was able to rekindle that fascination.

Our pilot was remarkably experienced and very obviously had a strong passion for the Kimberley region and it’s stunning landscapes; you could tell he loves his work.

Flights over the Horizontal Falls, Montgomery Reef, the Hunter River, to remote, and very well preserved, beautiful aboriginal rock art sites, to a picnic site at Eagle Falls and perhaps the most wonderful sunset I will ever experience overlooking Vansittart Bay.

The following images I hope tell of some of the beauty of the region and convey that should you take a cruise on-board the True North take as many flights as you can. They add a dimension of scale and beauty to an already excellent cruise.
